Lotta Härdelin

Lotta Härdelin is an award-winning Swedish photojournalist based in Stockholm. She has been part of the editorial staff at Dagens Nyheter, Sweden’s leading daily newspaper, since 1994 and currently serves as a Staff Photographer.

Working across news, feature and long-form documentary photography, her images are characterised by quiet observation, visual clarity and a deep respect for the people she photographs. She is drawn to stories that reveal the complexity of our changing world with honesty, sensitivity and precision.

Throughout her career, Härdelin has also held several senior editorial leadership positions at Dagens Nyheter, including Head of Photography, Head of Graphics and member of the editorial management team, contributing to the newspaper’s visual development and editorial strategy.

Her work has received national and international recognition. She was named Swedish Photographer of the Year in 2021 and received Årets Bild (Picture of the Year, Sweden) in 2024. She is also a two-time recipient of Pictures of the Year International (POYi) in the Science & Natural History category and has been honoured with the Wendelapriset and the Nils Horner Prize.

She holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Stockholm University and completed the Executive Management Program at the Stockholm School of Economics.
